  1. Hola,

¡Y gracias a tí!

  2. hola Luis!
I was just reading your article about surviving a google ban.
    http://it.toolbox.com/blogs/elsua/6-things-i-learned-while-being-banned-from-google-search-26483
My wife and i are going through the basically the same thing. Wanted to know how long did it take for you to get back on google, and did you have to restart from zero on google?
We’ve been losing alot of sleep over this and are both so sad about the Google ban. Any other suggestions of what u did to help out the situation?
I’ve already submitted reconsideration request to Google Webmaster Tools. Now we are just waiting… and the waiting is what really stinks!
I just cant believe Google doesn’t give you a warning before they ban you! We had no idea that our site didn’t follow “Google Quality Site” standards.

    HELP Luis!

    1. Hi John, many thanks for reaching out and for the feedback comments! Really sorry to hear that you guys have also been affected by a Google ban. I must say that it is quite unnerving, specially because of the unexpected results it can have. In my case the whole thing from finding out about the ban, to eventually get it all sorted out took about a week, but the good news is that the impact was minimal. Yes, I was not reachable through Google for about a week, but then after I got everything back in place I was back into the game without having lost anything. Just like it was before.

So if you guys have already done what needs to be done to undo the ban you should be all right. Perhaps what you need to watch out for is the fact that you will not get any kind of notification, at least, I didn’t, when the ban is lifted, so check periodically through Google Search and see if you can find yourself again.

But, like I said, all in all, about a week is what it will take you to get over the ban and get everything back into place.

One thing that the entire experience showed me was to eventually keep up with the WordPress upgrades instead of just keeping it for months on previous versions. I paid my price, learned the lesson and now working like a charm.

Hope that helps. If you would need more help or info details please do get in touch! Thanks again for the feedback and best of luck!

  3. Wow…i truly truly hope we get similiar results as you do. My wife has been doing her tennis blog for 2 years now, and we JUST migrated her site to WordPress in Feb and have had so many long nites getting everything back in order, and now Google bans us! It was a stab in the heart and just straight out disheartening! We get at least 1/3 of our traffic from google. It’s pretty scary to think that a search engine can have so much power over ANY website out there.
I just hope we are back on there soon as our website is reliant on current day-to-day tennis news.
Thank you again Luis! Your response has brought back hope to our site. I was almost ready to ditch the old domain name and start a new one! pheewww

  4. You wont believe it…as i finished my last response to you, i was finishing up some 301 redirects on our website, and checking against links in Google Webmaster, and it had me check for our site again on Google, and LOW AND BEHOLD! ITS BACK!!! It’s slowly trickling back in! But its BACK!!! Thanks Luis for your response!

    1. Hi John! What an EXCELLENT piece of news! I am really glad you folks are up and running and enjoying the Google juice, once again! I know it must have been quite an experience going through such unfortunate set of events, but, indeed, while reading your last couple of comments I can also sense the excitement of moving further on with things as should be and I am relaly glad for you folks!

Keep up the great work and glad to have helped a bit with those words of encouragement on “Hang in there!”. 🙂

      1. Hey Luis…we’ve noticed that Google doesnt seem to give us the search love like it did before the ban.
In the past, when we posted, we would see our posts show up in the 1st couple pages on google searches, now, not even close.
        Did you notice this too?
Did this happen to you as well?
Did it ever come back to the way it was?
        We are very sad 🙁

        1. Hi John! Thanks again for the follow up and for the feedback comments! I am really sorry to hear that the search results aren’t up to the expectations they once were.

When I went through the ban myself, I eventually noticed it took me a few days before my blog would come on the 1st page of results, where it is still now, so I am thinking it may take a little bit of time before you guys get back in shape.

I eventually got there, so I am sure you would be able to get there as well with no problem. One other thing worth while trying would be to get in touch with other SEO experts, like John Mu (http://johnmu.com/). He was the one who kindly first alerted me of the issue and helped me solve it. I know he is a busy man, but on his blog (I get to talk to him through Twitter), he lists a Contact page and you may want to have a look into that and see if he can share further details.

Hope that helps, John, and hope you guys get back in shape shortly, too!

  5. Hi Lidia, as much as I would have hoped to chime in at Locopo.net, I am afraid that if it is going to be all in Bulgarian it is going to make my contributions rather cumbersome, if not almost too impossible, since I don’t speak, nor write in that language, although I wish I could hehe

It is really cool to see how you folks are making use of Connections to drive the adoption of social software! Thanks for sharing that link! And for reaching out in the various other networks!

  6. Hola Luis,

  9. I manage Intuit’s Online Community website and am thinking about how our robust world of user generated content can compliment (or replace) our main Support Website. Any thoughts? Do you know any Fortune 1000 company that relies on Wisdom of the Customers vs. creating a bunch of KB articles and content?
    Thanks for your help.
    S

    1. Hi Scott! Thanks a bunch for dropping by and for the feedback comments! I can imagine that it would be quite a drastic change, but seeing the robustness of what you have built up already, it can have a tremendous impact in how you can move things further with that wisdom of the customers. For example, instead of putting together a bunch of KB articles having a dynamic user experience, like a wiki, could help you generate much more relevant and accurate content according to the community’s needs & the overall Web site.

So why not? I know of a few Fortune 1000 companies who are starting to rely more and more on the power of online communities, special in today’s times, where virtual teaming and collaboration is more key than ever. If you would need more info details on that topic, let me know and we may get in touch to share some more.

Thanks again for the information details!

  10. Dear Luis

I’m working on a company knowledge management project and would value your input to a few questions I have. I have submitted my e-mail address, please do get in touch if you can spare the time!

    Thank you!

    1. Hi Alistair, I haven’t heard from you in a long while and not sure whether you got my original email answering your query above on wanting to find out some more on KM; would you have an opportunity to come back and confirm whether you got that initial email? If not, more than happy to re-send it…

      Thanks!

  11. Hi Luis,
I haven’t checked by for quite a long time now and surprise: you got a new design. I like it a lot. Cleaner than the old one.
    Keep up the good work.
    Robert

    1. Hi Robert! Thanks a bunch for the kind comments on the blog and for the feedback on the new design. Yeah, I’m totally delighted about it and very happy with it all along! The designer has done a great job and very proud of her!

I guess it’s a little bit late than usual responding to this comment, but then again, better late than never, right? And that’s one of the great things of blogs, i.e. you can always pick up the conversation and keep going at it where we left it! So here I am sharing a thought or two.

Thanks again for the feedback and speak soon! 🙂

  12. Hi Luis:

What a wonderful site and I wish you the best of luck with the new position!

I discovered a wonderful piece you wrote on Dan Pink’s bestselling book A WHOLE NEW MIND, and I am happy to offer you an advance reading copy of his upcoming title “DRIVE: The Surprising Truth About What Motivates Us” for review consideration. I think it’s relevant to your audience and you would enjoy the new content.

If you’re interested, I can be contacted at the email address listed. Regardless, keep up the wonderful site and thanks for sharing!

    Best,
    Lydia Hirt
    RiverheadBooks

    1. Hi Lydia! Apologies for the long delay on the reply! I guess better late than never, right? 😉 Either way, I am really pleased you are enjoying the blog and its various readings; I would love to get a copy of Drive to read and review later in the blog, but at the moment, I have got about half a dozen books piled up that I need to finish off before I can add some more, but whenever I’m ready I will send along an email to you and see how we can get things moving.

Really appreciate your support on this and surely hope to be in touch very very soon! Thanks again for the kind comments and speak soon! 🙂

Saludos

  15. Dear Luis,

thank you for your great site! We find it very interesting.

We are a team of olympic sportsmen and coaches from Germany, Australia UK and India. Based on our experience in top level sports, we have developed an easy-to-use life management software called Goalscape that your readers might find useful. It would be great if you could give it a review.

With Goalscape you can quickly visualize experienced based knowledge, which we believe is in its essence about internalized (neuronal) structure and a sense of priorities of those structural elemnts.

We would be very happy to talk to you about it. Goalscape also takes a very holistic approach to goalsetting and management. Please give it 5 minutes and let us know what you think. You can find it under http://www.goalscape.com.

Kind regards, Marcus Baur – co-founder Goalscape Software GmbH

    1. Hi Marcus! Thanks a lot for dropping by and for sharing those very interesting details about Goalscape; I have now downloaded the 14 day trial version and will be playing with it over the course of the next few days, specially after I come back from my upcoming business trip to London; I will see whether I can make it work within my already existing workflow and context and, if so, I will go ahead and create a short blog post to point folks to it and share my reviews about it.

Thanks for the heads up and for the info details! Surely looks interesting! 🙂

      ¡Gracias!

  18. Hi Luis,

I have been involved in tow major Knowledge Management Project so far and I have great passion in this field. One of the project was to General Motors in Austria, and the other one for Khozestan Steel Company in Iran.

Currently, I am working on one specific concept on the KM being “Knowledge Capturing and Knowledge Acquisition”. I cannot find appropriate literature on this specific topic, and i was wondering if you could guide me with it.

    Thanks in advance

    1. Hi Hossein, thanks a lot for the feedback comments and for the information details. I’m not sure whether you have been looking for information on the topic of Knowledge Transfer, which seems to be, perhaps, more appropriate to the kind of research you are looking for. Also perhaps you could have a look into the concept of Knowledge Harvesting, as far as Knowledge Capturing is concerned. Those two areas should give ou enough ground to find some good research on various Web sites. I would start with APQC as I am sure you would be able to find good resources on those topics over there. Hope that helps …

  19. Buenas noches Luis.

¡Gracias!

  21. Luis,
I am a current student at the University of Illinois at Chicago collecting data for a research project on the way firms internally organize for knowledge retention. My research pertains to firms who access and absorb external knowledge in technology related development projects. I was hoping you would participate in an anonymous phone interview regarding some practices at IBM?

    Regards,
    Dawn

    1. Hi Dawn, many thanks for the heads up and for the feedback comments! Yes, it will be a real pleasure for me to get together with you and go through that interview. Please do let me know what’s the best way of getting in touch with you and I will go ahead and reach out to set up a date and time for us to talk. Let me know what you think and many thanks for the feedback and for dropping by over here!

      Greatly appreciated! 🙂

  22. We have a 6 hour time difference, so perhaps you give me a time and date (or a few times and dates) and I can call you? I know you are a bit anti-email, but we can exchange information that way?

    1. I am on Canary time, eventually, which means I’m 5 hours ahead of EDT, so it should be doable. However, I’m away from work this week and taking a few days off. I will be back on June 30th, perhaps we could get together that week or something… Will drop you a quick email to confirm the details 😉 hehe Thanks, Dawn!!

  23. Hola Luis,

    1. Hiya, Don! My goodness, my dear friend! Has it been that long already! Glad to know you eventually found it (Me, as well!); things are going really well, indeed! Buzzing around all over the place! Still doing the same good old thing as to when you were around hehe

How are things with you? Doing all right? Hope you are doing just fine; judging from your LinkedIn profile it seems like you are 😉 Good stuff! Looking forward to keeping in touch, my friend!

  24. Hi Luis,

I work for a research company called Flamingo in London, England.

We’re really fascinated by your blog here, and by the way you are working. We’re running an event soon on the Future of Work and would love to get you involved somehow.

Would you be interested? If so I’ve got some more details I could share…

    Cheers

    Alex

    1. Hi Alex, thanks a lot for the kind feedback comments and for the information details. Greatly appreciated!

Sounds rather interesting, to say the least, and I would be rather intrigued to find out plenty more about it, since I’m somewhat involved in similar initiatives around the topic of the Future of the Workplace and would surely think it may well be a good opportunity to figure something out…

Please go ahead and send me a Twitter Mention to connect, will follow right away and provide my email address to share further details shortly afterwards 😉

      Thanks!!

  25. Luis,

Wanted to take this opportunity to let you know I read your blog on “Content Management Connection” about “Overcoming resistance to change”. I bookmarked it for our users on our community for IM professionals (www.openmethodology.com). Check us out when you have a chance and look forward to reading your work in the future.

    Lindsey

    1. Hi Lindsey! Many thanks for dropping by and for the kind comments! Really appreciate the good sports and everything! Just popped into MIKE 2.0 and it surely looks rather interesting! Will need to investigate plenty more and see how I can syndicate some of the interesting conversations to keep up with them! Really good stuff!!

Thanks for the heads up and look forward to cross-sharing some content! 🙂

  26. Luis,

You mention social networking as part of your domain at IBM but I rarely see IBM’s name mentioned when reading about various aspects of social networking. Maybe IBM just needs to partner with a great brand. IBM will certainly get more recognition for “Developing the Knowledge Economy” if IBM helps me develop KnowledgeEconomy.com (and .net/org etc) into a “non-social” network focused on better connecting researchers and business people all over the world.

Education is the key to the Knowledge Economy and the Knowledge Economy is the key to a better life for millions. Keep up the good work and let me know what you think about my idea.

    1. Hi Reb, I guess it’s a good time for me to catch up with this response, since somehow it slipped my mind completely and didn’t have a look into it till a couple of other notifications came along … Really glad you raised this point, because I thought it would be rather interesting for you to have a look into this presentation, put together by our former social media manager at IBM, which I am sure is going to reflect quite nicely on the stage of Social Business @ IBM and raise the odd comment as to why everyone doesn’t seem to want to talk about it, after 10+ years being involved with social software tools … Interesting, don’t you think? 🙂

    http://www.idg.es/computerworld/Las-redes-sociales-desplazan–poco-a-poco-al-corre/seccion-mercado/noticia-102259

You were right at the very beginning!

    1. Hi Alán! Catching up with these threads over here! About time, I know!! hehe Hey, thanks for the heads up on that article! Interesting read, indeed, to think how a few months later that perception of social networking tools moving along further than email is no longer a conversation “du jour”, but more the way things are within the corporate firewall and beyond! Yes, it’s taken a bit of time, but it’s already happening!! 😀

Thanks again for the ping and apologies for the long delay on the response… great catching up with you in Madrid! 🙂

    1. Hiya Dan! My goodness! So great to see you online, although wish it would have been F2F, too! It’s been a long long while, since we last spoke! I am surely glad you have dropped by and share a quick comment to let us know you are still doing some fab work around KM and continuing to provide some solid views on KM altogether! Fantastic!! Just caught up with your blog feed and I have added it already into my KM Bloggers feed as well!

Looking forward to keeping up with the interactions and perhaps a chance to meet up at some point! 🙂

Take care and don’t be a stranger! Keep in touch!

      1. Hi Luis, yes, it has been a long time since we last spoke! I noticed that you dropped off of active blogging on ITtoolbox not long after I did. Glad to have my own blog back up again and think that I’ll be able to do a whole lot more with it this way.

        1. Hi Dan! Yeah, that experience was rather good and enjoyable, but eventually it deteriorated and could no longer keep up with it, specially with its inability to blog offline with my favourite offline blogging tools, so decided to move on and settled back in with a couple of places, this blog being one of them, ever since!

Glad to see you are getting your blogging mojo back and surely look forward to further interactions! 🙂

PS. Did you join the Twitter bandwagon as well?

    1. Hi Kayee, thanks a lot for dropping by and for the kind comments on the blog! Greatly appreciated! Sure thing! I went ahead and added my two cents on to the survey link you shared above. Good luck with the Research!

      Cheers!

    1. Hi Ed! Thanks a lot for dropping by and for the feedback comments! No, not yet, I am still using Twitter, although perhaps with a little bit of engagement than what I had in the past. So you can still following @elsua, if you would want to. However, I’m having a blast with Google Plus at the moment, and I just found you there and added you to one of my circles; we should be able to keep in touch and with the conversations, too! Looking forward to that! 🙂

Thanks again for reaching out and hope things are going all right with you! 🙂 Speak soon!

  29. Hey Luis,

I found your website through a post on Corbett Barr’s blog. I have been working as an internet marketeer from Gran Canaria myself and I have a website for Dutch digital nomads. Would be nice to connect somehow; we need more of your breed on the Canaries!

    Cheers,

    1. Hi André! Thanks a lot for the feedback comments and for dropping by! And welcome to the blog! 🙂

It sounds really interesting and would be more than happy to get together some time after I come back from vacation (Currently on mainland Spain for a few more days) and catch up!

Thanks much for the kind comments and I will be in touch upon my return! 😀

  32. Hi Luis,
I am a producer with CBC Radio in Toronto and we are hoping to do a segment on Alto’s decision to abolish email.

I would like to speak with you as soon as possible to see if you are available to be on a segment on Wednesday at 800 or 830 am ET. Would this be possible? You could join us by Skype (we are radio).

Could you send me a phone # where i can reach you today or Tuesday?

    1. Hi Tina! I am not sure whether you may have received the notification I sent earlier on, but just wanted to confirm that I would be delighted to get together with you guys and share my ¢2 of the conversation on banning corporate email from the workplace. Lots of talk and buzz about that topic recently for sure! Happy to chime in! I shared across a phone number with you, but I could surely make it via Skype… Let me know if you would need more help or further details and thanks much for reaching out! 😀

  33. Hola Luis

  34. Hola Luis!

  35. Hello,

I was wondering if you accept guest post for your blog. If you do, I would like to submit a few. I’m a recent college graduate, with an English major, looking to build out my portfolio. I can write on a wide variety of topics and am sure you would be happy with the quality. Please email me back if you are interested. Thank you for your time.

  36. Hi Luis, I was wondering if I could get your input on an innovative research project that will provide insight into the barriers that organisations face in embracing social media – and solutions to overcome them. I know you’re quite an expert in the field – I can send you some more info if you like. My email is joshua@outpostmedia.co.uk. Thanks!

  37. Hi Luis,

You had previously mentioned APQC’s Annual Knowledge Management Conference back in 2009. I was wondering if you would post this event again on your site to let your readership know about our conference coming up this year. As usual, we have a great selection of KM practitioners lined up to talk about KM tools and approaches they are using in their organizations, but new this year we also have a couple of open space sessions where KM experts will be on hand to answer questions from attendees.

During this year’s conference, we will also host a session to walk KM practitioners through designing apps for KM. We will look at how organizations are using apps to support KM, how this would fit into a larger mobile KM strategy, and things to think about when designing an app. And we’ll conclude this session by raffling off a brand new iPad 3!

Each day of the conference will feature keynote presentations from KM experts and business leaders to inspire change. And there is pre-conference training available for KM practitioners of every level looking to learn new skills or refine others.

    Event Details:
    Dates: April 23-27
Location: The Houstonian Hotel, Club & Spa in Houston
    For more information: http://www.apqc.org/kmconf12

Thank you for your support and we hope you’ll be able to join us.

    1. Hi Zakiya, thanks much for the heads up! That looks indeed like a massive and rather interesting KM event for this year’s APQC. I have just taken a look into the agenda, now that I am settling back from a rather hectic travelling schedule and I would be looking forward to a good number of those keynote and breakout sessions and reflect some of their thoughts on upcoming blog entries. Wish I would be there attending live the event, but alas I won’t be able to make it. I will be watching out for it from the distance and from the tweet stream coming along from it! Thanks for dropping by and for the heads up, once again! 🙂

  38. Hi,
I wanted to know your advertising rates please? I need to buy some links for a bunch
of clients, so if you could give me a discount for buying more than one link that
    would be great.
I need blog roll or site wide links, including on the homepage.

    Thanks,

    Josh Henderson

    1. Hi Josh, thanks for dropping by and for the kind offer, but at this point in time I am not interested. Perhaps at a later time … Thanks again for the feedback.

    1. Hi Chad! Thanks much for reaching out and for the feedback. I am afraid at this point in time I haven’t been over there at ITTools, as often as I would have hoped for, although I’m expecting things to slow down over the next few weeks, once a couple of work items get out of the way, so may be looking into it once again and perhaps resume my blogging activities over there. It’s been a long while and it would be good to be back 🙂

      Thanks for the reminder!

  39. Hello Luis, we met in person when you were in Finland early February (Marketvisio/Gartner visited IBM at your presentation) – it was a true pleasure and eyeopening, thank you! We are starting a research here at Marketvisio about weak signals in ICT service development and comparing start ups to mature companies. One part of the study is to look at what kind of role networks, social media, being a ‘guru’ etc. play in service develpment and new innovations and how that is different in above mentioned company types. I would love to share ideas with you both as individual and as IBM representative. How do you see this and what would be the best form to do that?
    Thanks in advance!

  41. Hi Luis,
Read (and loved) your post on social evangelism (http://socialmediatoday.com/luissuarez/548786/dear-social-business-evangelist-where-art-thou), then searched the web for your email, only to discover that you don’t use it (http://www.wired.com/wiredenterprise/2012/01/luis-suarez/#comments). So, I have two questions for you.

First, how does copying the whole world with a communication intended only for you save you time when the whole world (potentially) comments and, presumably, you review those comments? (This non-email letter is the only way I know how to attempt to reach you).

Second, and more importantly, how does a social evangelist who distrusts Facebook and who is trying to understand Twitter (me) contact you about the next big idea involving disruptive innovation that will impact multiple industries?

My last big idea (1998-2000) involved removal of “paper tickets” from the front end of the admission process for subscribed sporting events and other entertainment events. My invention replaced paper tickets with “digital admission rights” for entertainment fans, as managed by the sports venues, teams and other entertainers licensing their right to admit pre-paid observers, who in turn were empowered to conduct real-time resale/transfer/donation of their pre-paid “paperless” season tickets. Upon entry using “paperless ticketing” technology, seat assignments were issued on paper receipts with additional targeted messages and rewards.

I preached to four professional sports teams that the primary benefit of my paperless ticketing invention was collection and extraction of value from the data (wealthy season ticket holders, their friends and associates, information on re-sales, transfers, donations), not in the traditional “convenience fee” charged for ticket resale transactions. In language everyone would understand today, I had been evangelizing the value of “Money Fan” to benefit legitimate businesses and fans at the expense of exploitative ticket scalpers. Unfortunately, they all elected to take the “easy money” from Ticketmaster rather than invest in disruptive innovation.

I pursued my paperless ticketing invention and had a working prototype built in 90 days (after more than 18 months of research) and exhibited it in a live niche setting (kids program in minor league baseball stadium) 90 days later. Here’s the proof that I pioneered this solution to illegal ticket scalping in 1999: http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=MMVMdOtDImg.

Here’s proof that it took 12 years for the sports event industry to understand the significance of my disruptive innovation for subscribed ticketing in the sports and entertainment industry: http://mlb.mlb.com/video/play.jsp?content_id=21895157. Here’s additional proof beyond subscribed sporting events that my invention of paperless ticketing with digital resale and transfer will disintermediate paper ticket sellers and paper ticket resellers: http://www.businessweek.com/news/2012-03-02/live-nation-wields-the-boss-against-stubhub .

After quitting my day job at great personal expensee to me and my family, I returned to a salaried job. Based on my current work experience and hundreds of hours of personal research, I have developed a solution to the fastest-growing criminal exploitation of consumers that threatens all of us on a daily basis. Current industry solutions don’t work because solution providers are conflicted by present-day revenue models that would be eliminated if these providers were to implement a100% effective solution to protect law-abiding citizens from domestic and foreign criminals.

If this sounds interesting to you, Louis, I would appreciate engaging in a confidential dialogue on this subject. You have my email address. If you still cook with a stove/oven and not just the microwave, please contact me by email. Remember, nothing ventured, nothing gained.
    Best regards,
    -tom

    1. Hi Tom, thanks a lot for dropping by and for sharing along that your thoughts on that rather extensive commentary. Appreciated the kind feedback as well on the blog posts that you have enjoyed reading. Let’s see if I can respond to both of your questions shared above:

On 1) RE: “how does copying the whole world with a communication intended […]” I am afraid you have just mentioned it yourself above what the key is: “copying”. It does not necessarily mean that you would need to respond, or, even read the content in the first place. Pretty much like you would do with .cc on an email. One of the key differences between email and social networking sites is that, contrary to what happens on email, there is no obligation to either read or respond to content shared, and therefore it reduces the amount of friction while interacting. In fact, just because it is out there it doesn’t necessarily mean *everyone* will respond. In most cases they won’t. Only when they feel compelled enough to respond by trying to answer the question whether they can add / provide additional value or not. Something that email is missing big time today due to how automated and robotic it is where we respond *before* we think (about the response).

RE: “This non-email letter is the only way I know how to attempt to reach you” > Very interesting and rather surprised, because if you would have Googled me you would have found a whole bunch of different methods to reach out to me, including my phone number and even my own personal email address ;-)) Either way, I *do* appreciate reaching out to me through this medium, i.e. my personal blog.

On 2) you have just done that! The whole world of social networking is a whole lot more than just Facebook and Twitter, regardless of what some folks may have mentioning all along, as you can see from this interaction in the Blogoshere 🙂

Many thanks for taking the time to write down the background behind that rather fascinating idea and I am *very* surprised that no-one from the major league players may have shown interest in such a disruptive model that could change an entire industry! Happy to continue the discourse privately, if you wish, but since there are more ways to engage privately than just email, would you mind we continue it further along through the private messaging capability from LinkedIn? Here’s my LinkedIn profile to make it easier to connect further over here > http://www.linkedin.com/in/elsua

Thanks again for the feedback and for reaching out!

      1. Luis,
Thank you for the prompt reply. I’ll try LinkedIn tomorrow night when I get home. I cancelled my account once before because I was getting spam on my work email.
        Regards,
        Tom

        1. Hi Tom, thanks for the follow-up! No rush, whenever you would have some time! RE: LI, I know, that’s why I keep my work email away from anything external as much as I possibly can and why I use my personal email addy 🙂 See you in LinkedIn!

          1. Hi Luis,
Up early, so I thought I’d register with LinkedIn before I headed out to my day job. Unfortunately, I had to bail from the LI registration process when LI required access to my email account contact list to complete the process. This is one of the major defects of social networks; they demand that users relinquish their privacy rights rather than adopting a “privacy by default” setting and letting users customize privacy settings to their preferences. The nature of my current job requires that I fly under the radar and I am not open to sharing my contact list with LI and the world.
            Regards,
            Tom

BTW, some social evangelists – Todd Park, U.S. CTO (former HHS CTO); Jeff Hammerbacher, Cloudera; Gil Elbaz, Factual; Max Levchin, Kaggle. Not “social” per se, but Big Data in social doesn’t lie.

          2. Luis,
You can contact me at this address (but need to add apostrophe after “o”), then we can agree on other private channels to discuss further. Thanks.
            -Tom
