On to new beginnings … Or is it really the end?
On to new beginnings, or so they say … But where to start though? I’ve got so many thoughts and ideas in my head to blog about I just don’t know which one to commence with. I’m nervous though. I’m having the same kind of nerves as I once did when I created my first blog post ever, back in 2001. Yeah, I know, a whopping 25 years ago! I’m that old, I guess. Yet you won’t be able to find online a single trace of that blogging archive, because I’ve deleted it all. Last culprit? This very same blog I’ve been hosting since October 2005. All gone now. Time for a clean slate. Time for a relaunch!
It’s going to be super interesting going forward, at least, to me, to figure out whether I can re-find my own blogging voice and style, and resume my blogging mojo. I know I’m rusty. In fact, I have spent a good few weeks getting everything ready for this clean start, from scratch, and I still see the odd tweaks here and there I need to go through to fine tune this blog. Please bear with me and do let me know if there is anything missing, or not working well, or perhaps something else you’d like to see. I shall oblige. For those of you who are still subscribed to my RSS feed, as this entry pops up out of the blue, I’d like to offer a warm re-welcome to all of you my faithful followers. Thanks much for sticking around! We’ve got lots to talk about, don’t you think?
In upcoming blog posts, indeed, I plan to share with you all what’s being going on with yours truly over the last couple of years and explain why I have decided to come back to blogging, leaving behind pretty much everything I’ve strongly advocated for AND believed in for nearly 30 years. I know it all sounds intriguing and much of a tease for you to keep coming back, but, believe me, it will be worth it. Remember the good old Open Social Web? That’s why. We still have got lots of great work ahead!
What else? Oh, yeah, I’m also very much looking forward to sharing with you all what I have been involved with over the course of the last 3 years, and still going strong!, that’s kept me good busy working with some wonderful, incredible smart, people trying to push forward on two major key themes you’ll see me blogging about extensively from here onwards: #DistanceWorking and #DigitalAutonomy.
I don’t want to spill the beans just yet on what lies ahead, but those two keywords will certainly give you a hint as to what to expect from my blogging here going forward. One, I’ve been heavily involved with for over 25 years and it still feels like pretty much the first day; the other, I’ve only just gotten started with it about 8 months ago, after I had to take a compassionate leave that forced me to go offline for 3 months and delete all of my online presence. The rest is history and I’ll be more than happy to share with you all the why, the how and the what.
Oh, but will you be writing about fun stuff as well?, you may be wondering, right? Of course, I will. In fact, I plan to continue sharing some of the photos I’ve taken over the years not just from Gran Canaria, where I still live, but also from my former business travelling. You’re reading former correctly. More on that later. I also plan to talk about home gardening, which I’ve taken up just recently, some of the more interesting and thought-provoking books I’ve read, music I’m listening to, perhaps some of the films and TV series I’m watching, places I go flaneuring out and about, etc. etc.
Yeah, going forward, this new blog will still remain, mainly, as a business blog. Like I said, we’ve got so much to discuss, talk about and learn, but it’s also going to be a lot more intimate and personal one, and, soon enough, you’ll find out why.
For now, it feels great to be back!
