If in a recent blog post I was eventually talking about the wonderful initiative that both Stowe Boyd and Oliver Marks started a little while ago on the topic of Open Enterprise 2.0, and which they will be presenting their key findings at the upcoming Enterprise 2.0 conference in Boston in June, I thought I would touch base on that very same subject again, specially after having gone through another one of the superb interviews they are currently doing at the moment.
I mentioned in the past how folks should really check out those interviews from both JP Rangaswami and Andy McAfee, amongst many others. Well, I guess you will now have to add that one up from Charlene Li as well, because it is just as good, educational and thought-provoking, as those from JP & Andy. Some really good stuff!

Also watch out towards the end of the interview with Charlene, because both Stowe and herself make some interesting points on the evolution that email should be following with the emergence of social software within the enterprise, specially with the introduction of microsharing tools, both inside and outside of the corporate firewall. Some pretty fascinating and eye opening stuff! Highly recommended watching it throughout! No doubt!

Working Smarter … (IBM Lotus Software)

Remember that short video clip I shared not long ago under the title "Smarter Collaboration Your Way (Video from IBM)" that reminded us all of how social software, and its enterprise adoption, is all about making us work smarter, but not necessarily harder? Well, it looks like that video is part of a new YouTube channel, where you would be able to find a whole bunch of other nicely done video clips on the topic of working smarter, together, with social software at the same time that you will find shorter clips where real people, from various different businesses, are trying hard to solve real problems by applying solutions with 2.0 flavours.
You can check most of them if you go into the following YouTube channel: Collaboration4you, but there is one particular one that I keep playing every so often and which not only do I find it rather enjoyable, but it is one of those clips that I can relate to quite a bit, more than anything else because some of the folks starring in them are folks I get to collaborate with on a daily basis and they are surely sharing plenty of thoughts on how social software is impacting the corporate world, for the better. But, like I have mentioned above, the interesting thing from this, relatively new, IBM YouTube channel is to eventually capture the stories of real people, and their businesses!, trying to solve those problems that perhaps other traditional collaboration and knowledge sharing tools haven’t been able to address accordingly. Yet, social software is slowly, but steadily, getting there …
One of those YouTube channels worth while subscribing to, for sure, if you ask me; specially, if you would want to keep up with how various different, small and large, enterprises are shifting gears helping accelerate their own adoption of social software to keep augmenting the experience(s) of what they already have. Probably the best of both worlds, don’t you think?

The Company as Wiki by Best Buy

Continuing further with interesting video links that describe how large businesses are making use of social software, both inside and outside of the firewall, to help improve the way knowledge workers collaborate and share their knowledge (And how they can enhance their own interactions with their customers), here is another one I bumped into a couple of days back and which I can certainly recommend as being very insightful and thought-provoking, specially for those folks who may not buy too much into the concept of social computing within the corporate world.
The video describes in a bit over four and a half minutes how Best Buy dived into the world of Web 2.0 to create the next generation of collaboration and knowledge sharing tools within the company to help employees connect with one another across the various different sites and share their knowledge in smarter ways. Concepts like facilitating a working environment where knowledge workers can make extensive use of social software with applications like Blueshirtnation (BSN), The WaterCooler, wikis, Loop Markeplace (Idea Management a la IBM‘s ThinkPlace), TagTrade, Geek Squad, etc. are some of the most interesting things happening at Best Buy while they are getting exposed to social software in a corporate environment.
The video clip itself touches base as well on something as important as well as very relevant nowadays: business values, at the same time that it includes a couple of very insightful quotes from Don Tapscott on how disruptive enterprise social software can be within any business. Like I said at the beginning, a worth while watching video! For sure!
You see? That wasn’t that difficult, was it? Yet, the many benefits mentioned are just far too many to let them go by, just like that! Is your business ready to dive in? The waters, as usual, are lovely!
