Future of Social Networks by Charlene Li
In the current business environment where plenty of enterprises are still trying to figure out whether Social Computing would make sense for them, for their customers and / or their business partners, there are sometimes visionaries so insightful, and thought-provoking, as Charlene Li (Co-author of the wonderful and indispensable Groundswell), who venture into sharing with us what will be happening in the near future in the space of social networking.
A refreshing wind of changes that I find quite rewarding to bump into every so often to help us all understand where we are heading with these new rules of engagement, knowledge sharing and collaboration in the corporate world, based on nurturing business relationships and their corresponding connections.
So before we would all get started with our weekend, I thought I would share with you the recent presentation that Charlene did at the always inspiring SXSW conference in Austin under the title "Future of Social Networks". You would be able to watch it over at Slideshare or, instead, flip through the charts on the embedded version shared below:

Plenty of food for thought, don’t you think? Specially with amazingly provocative conclusion statements as this one, aimed, probably, at those businesses who still question the validity, value add and business value from social networking in the enterprise:
"Open networks will be the new norm, so consider how you will open your business"
Have a good one everyone!

Twouble with Twitters and Smarter Collaboration Your Way
Today has been one of those where in some parts of Spain it has been a bank holiday and in some others it hasn’t. It’s Father’s Day (By the way, Happy Father’s Day to all dads out there!)! So I have been lucky enough to enjoy a day off. A day I decided to be, as much as I possibly could, disconnected from everything online. Spent most of it out and about enjoying some lovely weather, going for long walks in the countryside and away from everything (Pictures coming along in my Flickr account soon!). Yes, unwinding could be the right word we could use!
As I got home, it was time to do a little catch up with things and see what happened while I was away. And in the midst of an incredibly amount of interesting things that I have bumped into so far, I thought I would ahead and share with you folks a couple of interesting ones, while I try to keep things short as well. It’s actually two different video clips. One of them incredibly funny and the other one a bit more serious, but amazingly accurate with the range of topics I get to cover on this blog for a long while now. Thus let’s get started and share the fun!
By now you probably know how crazy I am about Twitter, as perhaps one of the social networking tools outside of the firewall where I spend a good amount of time on a regular basis. Not to worry, I am not going to share any links, for the time being, to the plenty of good stuff that’s getting written about it so far. Instead, I would ask you to spend a bit over four minutes watching this video clip: Twouble with Twitters
Hilarious, isn’t it? Well, now you know what it feels like being in the Twittersphere!! (Twiiiiiitttteeeerrrr!!!)
The second video I would want to share with you folks is a bit more serious. It’s about working smarter, not necessarily harder, it’s about pushing innovation further into the next level; it’s about encouraging new models of collaboration and co-creation between vendors, their customers and business partners alike; it’s about driving further the next wave of collaboration and knowledge sharing in the corporate world; it’s about connections and relationships in the enterprise world as the next wave of interactions to get business done; it’s about all of that and plenty more! Check out: Smarter Collaboration Your Way (Video from IBM)
Not bad these two videos to wrap up a superb day unwinding from everything online, don’t you think? Special thanks for the hat tip on the IBM video to fellow colleague Stefan and my good friend Martin Koser, who blogged about it earlier on today as well. Thanks, guys!!

The Sweettt Podcast – Episodes 9 and 10 – We Are Back!
Sometimes things are just so incredibly busy that you lose track of time and before you realise it, several months go by, and you feel pretty bad that you haven’t blogged about something that is so close to your heart for how wonderful the overall experience is that you don’t know where to hide anymore! Well, indeed, that’s exactly how I felt today, in the midst of a full day of meetings galore!, when I became aware it has been quite a long time since the last blog post I put together for our dear Sweettt Podcast! Yes, that Modern Salon, or Tertulia 2.0 podcast, as both my good friend, and co-host, Matt Simpson and myself like to call it, that we have been doing for a little while now.
Indeed, last time I blogged about The Sweettt Podcast was in November last year! Ouch! That hurt! I cannot believe that it’s been that long already! Where does the time go, eh?!?! Not to worry, every so often we have been able to get together and record some amazing conversations with some really interesting folks in the area of Enterprise 2.0, Knowledge Sharing and Collaboration, plus our usual 1:1 conversations on whatever else is left out there …
However, I thought I would pick up the subject again, specially after talking to Matt and announcing we have fixed the issues with the iTunes store (Finally, you can now subscribed to our podcast by going into this link!) and let you know that since last time I blogged about it, we have got two more episodes for you to enjoy:
- Sweettt.com – Episode 9 – Put Your Innovation Where Your Mouth Is – Part 2 of August 22nd Discussion
- Sweettt.com – Episode 10 – Information Flow – Part 1
Plus plenty more that will get posted over the course of time. Yes, we know, we could be a bit more regular on our sharing of the various recorded episodes. And we are working on it! Eventually, we are also going to change a little the scheme we have been using when announcing those different episodes.
Instead of putting together rather lengthy blogs posts where we share extensive show notes, including some fancy tagcloud visualisations with the wonderfully crafter Wordle, we decided we don’t want to be the bottleneck, so from now onwards expect rather shorter entries, like this one, with one or two lines explaining the major themes we discussed on the podcast and from there onwards we are going to leave it up to you to go and listen to the various episodes and share your thoughts / comments to keep the dialogue going.
And that’s it! I guess we are back in the game! The Sweettt Podcast feed is now finally fixed and we are ready to keep those conversations flowing. Are you ready to join us? Do let us know! Get in touch! We would be delighted to have you on the show!
