Reviews – Passionate or Straight to the Point?

  1. I like both kinds of reviews, but if I could only have one, I’d go with Scoble-like passion and personalized. I’m not sure if I would like a hybrid, because the pleasure in the personalized review is the voice, the sense of really hearing from a human, as if you were talking with a friend over a coffee. Friends in that setting don’t suddenly start listing specifications and “cold” info. Maybe a perfect review would start out with the “voice” and passion, and include some links to the cold, hard facts, so they were just a click away but did not intrude on the pleasure of reading something that sounds personal.

  2. Hi Len! Thanks very much for dropping by and for the feedback comments! Welcome to elsua! I think that you pretty much nailed it with the following quote on what we should expect with a good review on whatever the product:

"Maybe a perfect review would start out with the “voice” and passion, and include some links to the cold, hard facts, so they were just a click away but did not intrude on the pleasure of reading something that sounds personal."

I sense that having both a combination of passion and some hard facts / links is what will get people to buy a product or not. Too much passion can be an overkill and not enough would make you wonder. And the links is just the perfect mix to substantiate what you have been saying all along.

Now, if only people would adopt that approach, right? We would be so much better off, I would imagine. So thanks again for that valuable commentary. Good stuff!
